7. Trips

Our Edinburgh half marathon was amazing!!! And here is my way to share out trip...

We started our trip spending a few days in London. Going to London is quite special for me, and this time was very special too. I saw my cousin Lucia and her boyfriend Alejandro; we spent pretty much all day together.

Katy, Gaby and I were kind of tired because of the jet lag, but anyways London is always London, and I don't go there very often... The walk through St. James Park was worthy.

We visited Stonehenge, Bath and the Hamptons...it was really nice

I had lunch with my friend and teacher Gareth in a cute restaurant in Noting Hill

Pictures of all of us coming soon

If you happen to be around Soho in London don't miss dinner at:

Our next stop was Dublin, where the trip really started for Katy :) we spent 3 days in Dublin, visited the Cliff of Moher, and we did and amazing hiking tour around Wicklow.

Check this out. I believe it is one of the best tours ever. Our guide Michael was really good. His passion about his land, and his Irish roots made this journey fantastic.

I have to mention that Michael was kind enough to take us and stopped for a while at the P.S. I love
you bridge. (Pictures coming) He also repeated for us some of the lines of the movie. Funny!!!!

We enjoyed the city, we walked a lot, we spent every night visiting Pubs, specially around Temple
Bar.... yes, we know is a really touristic place, but it was good listening the local singing, we tested the Guinness.

The time to Edinburgh came, and it was very cool, and COLD!!!!!!!

It was Friday, two days before the race and the carbo-load started at IL CASTELLO, and from that day we never eat in any other place.

And ...on Sunday April 15, the Edinburgh Rock 'n' Roll half marathon.

The route was very nice...... everybody did well!!! I had a difficult time though.... but I did finish.....

As I said pictures of the trip, are coming.

This is a very nice tour we did. Check it out!!!

5. Training and Sport Medicine

We would like to share with you how we train and take care of ourselves for this challenge
·         Sean Wade is the www.kenyanway.com  coach.
The Kenyan way is a training program for runners of any level.  We run hills on Mondays, speed workouts on   Wednesdays and long runs on Saturdays.
Sean’s famous sentence is: “negative split is your best friend”
 ·         Dr. Daniel deWalch, Kyle Fraser and Ashley Kinnard at http://www.fixmysportsinjury.com/
I am very well impressed by their FAST-R5 Method, the work ethic, professionalism, knowledge, the time they spend with us in every single visit.  Dr. D and his team really care about patients.
On top of this, they are helping us to get healthier, stronger and faster.
·         Tony Lewis and Juan Jaramillo are the best Boot Camp trainers at http://www.ymcahouston.org/trotter-family/
What can we say about Tony and Juan?  Be there on time, enjoy the workout.  We go from Monday through Friday at 5:30 am. We do agility drills, plyometrics, core training, running, and strength.

Training is very important as all of you can imagine, since I have never been a sport person, for me training is a must, and also, I have to tell mysfelf every run that I know I will do it. Once in a while mi mind wants to play dirty with me...., I have to fight back.... I have to finish.

Take your training schedule into another level with additional workouts.  Here is part of what we do:
 Cross-Training
In between running days, do 30 to 45 minutes of nonimpact cardio, like cycling, swimming at moderate intensity, or focusing on your core and lower body  such a  push-ups, lunges, and squats. This is our Boot-Camp class

Hills
Run around 4 to 8 uphill sprints: Run fast uphill. Jog easy downhill; repeat.  We do it for approximate 25 minutes. This one is really hard for me, that why I know I have to do it, because it will give strength.

 Intervals
Run 4 to 8 bursts at a faster pace for 90 seconds, and then jog easy for at least two minutes to recover; repeat.
